Being a nurse wasn't something I had dreamed about my whole life. While in college, my dad realized I had taken a lot of interest in my science classes. He is the reason I chose this profession because he encouraged me to pursue a path in life I already enjoyed doing. Since then, I have worked in critical care for over 20 years. There is no other department I would rather work in and not only that, my work environment is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are large and the equipment is up to date.
In healthcare, you work so closely with people, thru the good and the bad. You become more like friends and family; not co-workers. Choosing to work at Bailey was an easy decision for me for this reason. Not only is Bailey Medical Center a beautiful facility, it is a great place to work with great people. One of the things I like best about working here is the location. I am so close to home and I don't have to worry about long commutes to work anymore.
Overall, I would say no one likes being a patient in the hospital but it brings me great joy when I can help make a patient's stay more comfortable and more pleasant. I want my patients to feel that they have really been "cared" for.
